Ronald Lisberg

REDTAIL ONE, Ron Lisberg, the founder of California Redtails is the obvious person to be named the first person from our chapter to be named into the BPA Hall of Fame.

California Redtails, were organized in Ron's hanger along with a few other California pilots and spread across the state.

We became an intra-state, interstate an international fly out organization. We flew frequently throughout California, Nevada Arizona, Texas, Arkansas and finally into Mexico. Ron aim was to make youth aware of the history of the legendary RedTail's of the famed Tuskegee airmen 332nd Fighter Group and 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Force.

  

He enthusiastically joined the BPA in their efforts not only through scholarship but local clinics for youth fly outs.

Teaching fellow California Redtails and encouraging them to keep up their skills, get a new rating especially instruments was Ron’s passion.

Under his leadership California Redtails became members of Angel Flight, Civil Air Patrol, EAA Young Eagles and Los Medicos Valladores.

He was made president emeritus and the Ron Lisberg Flight Challenge was the name for him in 2020.

These are just a few of the outstanding accomplishments of our past highly esteemed colleague and leader.
