Floyd Miles, Jr., BPA# 02-555, was one of the first members to transition from Negro Airmen International to the Black Pilots of America circa -1996/1997 (28 Years). He attended the Fly-In and initial membership meeting Mexia, TX, 08 – 10 March 1996. He transitioned from the Crescent City Aviators which was attached to Negro Airmen International to the present-day New Orleans Golden Eagles under the Black Pilots of America.
He attended numerous, local chapter meetings, BPA Regional Meetings and National Meetings. He has served on several BPA Nomination and Election Committees. He has supported Operation Skyhook Annually, serving on the Skyhook Committee as well as coordinated the EAA Young Eagles Rides Annually. He has supported and flown youth at the Les Morris Summer Flight Academy Fly-Ins at Ellington Field. I have served as a Flight Instructor at the 2023 Les Morris BPA Summer Flight Academy. He has held offices as the New Orleans Golden Eagles Vice President (4 years), President (15 years) as well as Black Pilots of America, Webmaster, Newsletter Editor, Communications Chair, and National President.
He has recruited members locally, nationally and internationally. He has helped to develop at least five new chapters of the Black Pilots of America. Floyd is a Certified Flight Instructor, Commercial Pilot, Airplane Single Engine Land, Multi-Engine Pilot, Instrument Pilot, UAV Pilot, Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor.
