I am Eddie Kimbrough, BPA #97-039. After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1997 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, I began working for the IBM Corporation in Rochester, Minnesota. I began taking flying lessons at Rochester Aviation in 1968 and obtained my private pilot's license in November 1968.
I began working for the Southern Regional Headquarters of the USPS in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971. I purchased a 1963 Mooney M20C in August 1972 and began flying engineering consulting missions for the USPS throughout a 9-state area. I flew for over 600 hours on these consulting missions.
Shortly after purchasing my airplane, I began doing my own maintenance under the supervision of an A&P Mechanic and logging my maintenance time. I obtained my A&P Mechanics License in 1985.
I moved to Houston, Texas, in 1980 and joined the Bronze Eagles Flying Club of Texas shortly after arriving, and have been a member since. Prior to 2019, I participated in virtually all the annual introductory flights for children in Houston and other cities in Texas, having become a member in approximately 1981.
I have participated in virtually all the introductory flights for children at Operation Skyhook in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, since it began in 1997. I was also a member of Airlifeline when it was in Houston, and provided free flights to and from the Houston Medical Center for cancer patients.
I have logged 4,975 hours of flying time, of which about 4,700 have been in the Mooney. In May 2024, I received the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award at Operation Skyhook.
