Samuel Washington

Samuel Washington has built an outstanding career in aviation as an educator, airport executive, and dedicated member of Black Pilots of America. A BPA member since 2009, he has served the organization faithfully as Chapter Secretary (4 years), Chapter President (4 years), National Operations Officer (4 years), and National Chaplain. He has been a Skyhook Attendant for 15 years, contributed to the Skyhook Committee for 2 years, and represented his chapter at four National Board Meetings in Tuskegee, Atlanta, Oakland, and Seattle.

Washington earned his Private Pilot License and has maintained an active presence in the aviation community through membership in the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and the Civil Air Patrol, each for over 12 years.

His professional career reflects the same commitment to excellence. He served as a Board Member for Cleveland Municipal Airport (2007–2014), then as an Instructor of Commercial Aviation at Delta State University (2011–2018), where he trained future professional pilots. He went on to become Airport Director of Vicksburg Municipal Airport (2014–2017), then Airport Director of Greenville Mid-Delta Airport (2018–2023). In 2023, he was appointed Director of Capital Program at the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, leading infrastructure planning and development for the region's busiest airport system.

Through service, mentorship, and leadership, Samuel Washington has advanced both aviation and the mission of BPA, leaving a lasting impact on airports, students, and communities across the nation.
